Route · 05 · The inspection stop

QC photos are your one look before it ships.

Before your item leaves China, GTBuy photographs it in the warehouse. This is your window to catch problems while returns are still easy. Here's how to actually read those photos.

Original module · the checklist

Run this checklist on every item

  • Right item, right options. Colour, size marking and style match what you ordered — not just "a hoodie", but your hoodie.
  • Obvious defects. Look for stains, loose threads, uneven stitching, scuffs, cracked soles, dents.
  • Logos & text. Check spelling, alignment and placement on prints and tags where the photos allow.
  • Count & accessories. Right quantity, plus any dust bag, box or extras the listing promised.
  • Damage vs. packaging. A crushed outer box isn't a broken item — judge the product, not the wrapping.
What QC can and can't doQC confirms the item looks right from the outside. It isn't a lab test — it won't measure durability or verify hidden electronics. If something matters (a specific measurement, a function), ask GTBuy support to check it specifically.

If something's wrong

Don't approve shipping yet. Raise the issue with GTBuy from the order, describe the problem clearly, and reference the photo. Depending on the case you may be able to request more photos, a re-check, an exchange or a return while the item is still in the warehouse. Once it ships, your options shrink — so slow down at this stop.

Know the difference

Standard QC vs. asking for more

Not all inspection is the same, and knowing the levels saves you from expecting something you didn't request:

  • Standard QC photos. The default — a set of warehouse photos of your item so you can see it before shipping. Enough to catch the obvious: wrong colour, wrong size marking, visible damage.
  • Extra / requested checks. For anything that matters more — a specific measurement, whether a zip works, a closer look at a print — you can ask GTBuy support to check it specifically. Ask before you approve, while the item is still in hand.

If an item is expensive or you're fussy about a detail, don't rely on the standard shots to happen to show it. A one-line request ("please confirm the chest measurement" / "please photograph the sole") is normal and gets you a real answer.

Manage your expectations

What QC photos can't tell you

QC is an inspection window, not a laboratory. It's honest to know its limits so you're not disappointed:

  • It shows the item looks right — it can't test how it wears after a month.
  • It can't verify hidden electronics or internal components beyond a basic function check.
  • It reflects one moment in the warehouse — handle-with-care still applies in transit.
  • Photos can flatten colour slightly; screens vary. Judge shape and detail more than exact hue.

Within those limits, QC is genuinely powerful: the majority of "this isn't what I ordered" problems are catchable right here, before a parcel ever leaves China. That's the whole reason to slow down at this stop instead of clicking approve.

A calm routine

The 30-second QC routine

Make it a habit and it takes half a minute per item: open every photo full-size → compare against what you ordered (size, colour, quantity) → scan for damage → check any print or logo you care about → then approve, or send one clear question. Done. See the full journey for where this sits, and fees for what happens once you approve and consolidate.

QC questions

QC FAQ

Are QC photos free?

Standard warehouse photos are the normal part of the service; specialised extra checks may differ. Confirm the current details on the official GTBuy site — we don't quote policy here.

Can I get a refund if QC shows a defect?

Because you inspect before shipping, a genuine defect is far easier to resolve — you may be able to request a re-check, exchange or return while the item is still in the warehouse. Options shrink once it ships, so raise it at the QC stop.

How many photos will I get?

Enough to see the item from the usual angles. If you need a specific view, just ask — a targeted request beats hoping the standard set happens to include it.
